    I Need Me Some Therapy

Now, before you all heartily agree with that statement… Let’s talk cows.  Seriously.  Let’s do.  It’s a huge topic.   But first.  A little history. Prior to making the big urban to rural shift almost 20 years ago, I hate to admit it, but…truth be told, I had never actually come face to face with a cow.  In fact, I really hadn’t even given them much thought before. Well, except for when we played the car game on road trips as a kid.  You remember, right?  It’s where you count the cows on your side of the road in order to win.  Do you all know what I’m talking about?…

    “Hey Girl! We See You”

I’m the youngest in my family.  And the only girl.  I have three older brothers; 7 yrs, 11 yrs, and 13 yrs older than I. That’s quite a significant gap.  As my sweet Mother used to say, I was “of God’s planning rather than man’s.”   In other words, I was a “Surprise!”   Story goes….when my 3 brothers learned my Mom was pregnant, they exclaimed with disappointment, “Why would you want to mess this up?”  Laaaaawsy!  Now, I love my big brothers.  But truly.  I learned to hold my own at an early age.  lol My husband, Paul, is 11 yrs older than I.  Tragically, Paul’s first wife died of…

    Why I Don’t Like Blogs

“A thief has only one thing in mind— he wants to steal, slaughter, and destroy. But I have come to give you everything in abundance, more than you expect—life in its fullness until you overflow!” John 10:10, TPT   I’m really not a blog person.  At all.  They always seem so perfect.  Or cute.  Or extremely coooooool.  Or something else that makes me feel like I really don’t measure up.  Like I’m somehow less than…all that…in one way or another. So, let’s not call this a blog.  Instead, let’s just call it a place.  A space.  A break.  From the pulls and strains of life.  If you’re like me,…

The Story Behind Rhythms of His Grace

So, the idea behind Rhythms of His Grace came from one of my favorite passages in the Bible, Matthew 11:28-30.  As I was reflecting on these well-known words, the Truth tucked within started carving out a lodging place deep within my heart.  The Spirit of God began to unwrap for me some of the beauty of what Jesus was really saying here. It hit me.  Hard and fast.  And hasn’t left.  Never will. I realized this was waaaaay more than just a “nice Jesus” sharing “nice words” with needy people.  Instead, He was extending an extravagant invitation to all who were open-minded enough to receive. For those open-minded enough…flexible enough…adventurous enough…

    Beginnings

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion?  Come to me.  Get away with me and you’ll recover your life.  I’ll show you how to take a real rest.  Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it.  Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.  Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28-30, MSG   I love beginnings.  They’re fresh…and new…and full of potential.  Kind of like this blog.  Only different.  Because…this blog isn’t exactly a new beginning.  It’s more like a refresh.  Because…some of you have been here with me…
